Features Of A Split Ac

Split air conditioning systems have beneficial features.

Some people call a split air conditioner (AC) a mini-split, ductless-split, duct-free or ductless air conditioning system. A split air conditioning system connects an indoor evaporator unit to an outdoor condenser with small tube. The system allows you to cool one area in your home or multiple locations in your home. Some split air conditioners are equipped with a heating option.

Quiet Operation

A split air conditioning system is quiet to operate because its compressor is outdoors. Unlike an air conditioner that sits in a window, a split air conditioner is barely heard when the unit turns on.

Simple Installation

A split air conditioner is typically easier to install than a traditional air conditioning system. Connecting the indoor evaporator to the outdoor condenser requires a 3-inch hole in a wall for the conduit. The outdoor condenser does not need to sit close to the indoor evaporator because the connecting conduit is available in various lengths. This creates the ability to cool spaces on the other side of a house or other building. It is best, however, to have a split air conditioner installer put in the unit to guarantee it works correctly.

Flexibility

A split air conditioner allows for more interior design options than a traditional air conditioning system. A split air conditioning system can hang on a wall, be mounted in a ceiling, suspended from a ceiling or stand on a floor. Some units have remote controls for operation, which is helpful when a unit is located on a ceiling or high on a wall.

Multiple Zones

Some split air conditioning systems can cool up to four zones with one outdoor condenser connecting four indoor units. Each indoor unit has its own thermostat, and such systems allow you to cool an area as needed.
