Clean Old Tin Ceiling Tiles

Old tin ceiling tiles were a stlyish statement in Victorian homes. You can find the antique elegance in modern homes as well. If you have an old Victorian home or just renovated your modern home, proper maintenance of the tiles is important. Complete a thorough cleaning of the old tin tile right away. Then clean the tin ceiling tile at least once every three months to keep the shine and brilliance of the antique style.

Instructions

1. Raise the rag mop to sweep the tin ceiling tiles. Begin in one corner. Sweep back and forth until you properly dust the entire ceiling. You may want to complete the process in 5-by-5 feet sections for easier cleanup.

2. Add 2 1/2 quarts of water and 1 quart of mild liquid laundry detergent in the bucket. Dunk the mop into the bucket. Wring out with a rag mop wringing system or your hands. Press down and squeeze until the excess moister is out of the mop.

3. Scrub the ceiling with the mop. Start in one corner and scour back and forth. Clean in small areas at a time to give the ceiling a thorough wash. When the mop begins to discolor from the dirt, wring it out. Repeat until the entire tin ceiling is clean.
