Apply Sandtextured Paint

If you're looking for a faux stucco finish for your walls or ceilings, apply sand-textured paint to acquire this look. Applying sand-textured paint is also great for hiding any imperfections on the surface of walls or ceilings. Though sand painting can be more time-consuming than regular painting, with some patience and the right equipment you can give your home a whole new look.

Instructions

1. Cover the floor with drop-cloths. Prime the walls or ceilings with a primer. Most paints work best when applied to a primer coat.

2. Choose the type of paint and color you desire. You can purchase a ready-mixed texture paint or the sand and paint separate and mix the two. Follow manufacturer instructions for mixing sand and paint.

3. Apply sand-textured paint with a roller. Work in small 2-by-2 foot patches. Roll the sand paint on in one direction, then work back on a 90-degree angle, then apply a lighter pressure on the roller and go in the starting direction once again.

4. Use a brush to apply sand-textured paint to edges of walls or ceilings. Dip the brush into the paint, then tap the tips of the bristles against the surface.
