Mount Dome Cameras

Dome cameras can monitor any direction from the ceiling.

Dome cameras are a popular form of security surveillance. These units are mounted to the ceiling and the camera within the dome-shaped cover is angled according to the user's preference. Most of these units have a smoky cover to hide the camera within. When the cover is replaced on the camera, a passerby is unaware of the particular direction the camera is facing. The dome-shaped surveillance cameras are simple to mount and are a great addition to business or personal security.

Instructions

1. Remove the cover from the camera. Set aside the dome-shaped cover.

2. Find a joist on the ceiling with a stud finder. Make a mark to keep track of the joist.

3. Hold the base of the dome camera up against the ceiling. There are two holes in the base of the dome camera to mount it on the ceiling. Position the holes over top of the joist and make a small mark onto the ceiling through each hole. Set aside the base for a moment.

4. Insert a 1/8-inch drill bit into the drill and make a small pilot hole through each mark on the ceiling.

5. Insert a 1/2-inch drill bit into the drill and make a hole between the two pilot holes. Use this hole to insert all wiring.

6. Insert a screw bit into the drill. Position the base of the camera over top of the pilot holes and insert wires into the 1/2-inch hole. Use the drill to insert one self-tapping screw through each pilot hole. The base of the camera is now firmly secured to the ceiling.

7. Place the dome-shaped cover back on the camera.
