Recording phone calls is illegal in some states.
There are many reasons why you may need to record a phone call, and some states allow it as long as one party is aware the call is being recorded. Other states require both parties to be notified that the call is being recorded. Recording a phone call is easy when you are using an Internet-based phone line.
Instructions
1. Set your Vonage voice-quality settings to the highest possible setting. This is done on the Vonage website under your account. The settings are located in the Features section under Bandwidth Saver.
2. Download the Cain Abel software from Oxid.it.
3. Install the software to your computer using all default settings. When it asks if you want to install WinPcap, click Yes.
4. Open the Cain Abel software.
5. Click the Sniffer icon located to the right of the File icon. Click on the Sniffer tab.
6. Right click in the open spreadsheet area of the page to open the menu. Click Scan MAC Addresses to scan your computer. Click OK on the scanner window.
7. Click on the APR tab at the bottom of the page. Click on the yellow symbol that matches the symbol on the APR tab near the top of the page and click the plus sign.
8. Select the appropriate IP addresses from the list. The one on the left should be your router IP, while the one on the right should be your PAP ATA IP. These numbers can be found in your Vonage account. Click OK when the right IP addresses are highlighted.
9. Click on the VoIP tab at the bottom of the page. Make a call as you normally would, and you will see it record on this page.
Tips Warnings
You can also set up an independent voice mail service and make a three-way call between yourself, your voice mail and the other caller to record the conversation through Vonage.
