Old York to New Honeywell TH5220D1003 Thermostat wiring help
I have an old York thermostat that is the slide left/right control with mercury. I recently purchased a New Honeywell TH5220D1003 thermostat to replace it with. I have a 2 heat / 1 cool heat pump setup and a Goodman outside unit. On the York the wiring is as follows... LETTERING = WIRING FROM WALL W = WHITE/BROWN (1 white wire and 1 brown wire) B = BLUE G = GREEN R = RED O = ORANGE Y = YELLOW On the Honeywell, the connections are as follows... L E AUX G O/B C Y R RC (there is a jumper between R and Rc) I think I have it pretty much figured out except to where to go with the white and brown wires as there is no W on the heat pump side of the Honeywell connectors. Here is how I think it might go... Honeywell Connections = Wires from wall L = E = AUX = G = GREEN O/B = ORANGE C = Wont use as I will put batteries in) Y = YELLOW R = RED Rc = Remove jumper from R/Rc Thanks for your help as it is greatly appreciated!!! Before we wire this up, I need this info. Old----------------------New W = WHITE/BROWN---Aux/E (Where does the White and brown wire go to at the furnace/air handler?) B = BLUE---------------C G = GREEN-------------G R = RED----------------R/Rc O = ORANGE-----------O/B Y = YELLOW-------------Y Thanks for the reply Jay! Everything is electric. Here is what I saw on the Goodman Model# PH036-10... C = BLUE Y = YELLOW E = BROWN W2 = WHITE O = ORANGE G = GREEN R = RED When I connect the red wire to R or Rc, do I leave the jumper in place or take it off? Also, do I take the Blue wire off of C if I am running batteries in the thermostat? Thanks again!!! edit...Will Brown go to E and White go to Aux on new tstat? You can hook it up to either one) Also, do I take the Blue wire off of C if I am running batteries in the thermostat? I'd use the system power.. No need for the battery since this is not a program stat. Installer set up menu. 1-5 2-0 3-1 6-3 8-3 9-2 12- up to you. 26-0 Thanks a million Jay....I greatly appreciate your time and help!!!! I got it all hooked up and went through all the System Test and seems to be doing what it is suppose to! I did have a question, more food for thought I guess... 1. On the setup it didn't give me #3 but in #6 and #8 would I want to put #6-9 and #8-9 for electric rather than Hot Water Systems? I saw where it also said ...furnaces over 90% efficiency, but didn't know if that was for water systems only or any. Thanks again....your a life saver!!! Setting it to 9 CPH (Cycle per hour) is too much of on and off cycle, and that can be hard on the equipment, and if you were running electric heat only, it don't get a chance to warm up. 3 give you better comfort.
