Many common dryer problems can be diagnosed by making simple electrical measurements.
Testing a thermal fuse may give you the answer as to why your Kenmore Series 70 dryer is not working. It is a straightforward task and should only take you a few minutes if you have the proper equipment.
Instructions
1. Unplug your dryer. This is extremely important. Pull it away from the wall so you can see it clearly.
2. Remove the back panel from the dryer by loosening the screws and then gently pulling. Put the back panel out of the way.
3. Locate the thermal fuse. It is a white plastic fuse in the lower left quadrant of the dryer if you are looking straight at the back of it.
4. Set the thumb wheel on your multimeter to the lowest setting. Attach the test wires of the multimeter to the sides of the fuse--to the exposed wire ends or metal. If the needle moves to the right, your fuse is working. If the needle does not move, your fuse needs to be replaced.
Tips Warnings
Always unplug an appliance before performing electrical measurements. There is a risk of electrocution if this is not done.
