Rheem criterion ii gas furnace

Rheem Criterion II Gas Furnace

I have an issue with the arm that covers the air filter for my HVAC system. I've got some pics of the arm. I'm not familiar with HVAC, but there is a small metal wire arm that is supposed to hold the filter in place. As you can see from the pics, it is not doing its job. I'm wondering if someone can help me fix this so I can make the filter stay in place. This one is with the filter looking the way it is supposed to: This one is what it looks like once the fan comes on the metal arm no longer holds it in place.: This is a sideways picture of me trying to show all the way back to where the arm is screwed in: Thanks for the help in advance. There is not much you can do with that poor design. put a screw through to hold it in place is all I can think of. BTW, you filter is in backwards. The arrow should point towards the blower. You have a denser filter which offers more resistance to airflow, allowing the filter to be sucked towards the motor. A xheaper filter would probably avoid the problem. Well, I think I've found a solution. A wood block in there would prop the arm up. My question is there any heat generated in this box? The furnace itself is in a separate compartment above this one. Just trying to make sure it won't be a fire hazard. Heat is not an issue. ...............................................................................................
