Install Mobile Home Light Fixtures

Installing a light fixture in your mobile home gives you the opportunity to update older fixtures or have that special light fixture that completes the theme in a specific room. You can choose from many different styles and types of light fixtures with a visit to your local home improvement, building supply or electrical supply store. Be sure you also purchase any hardware, tools or supplies you may need to do the job.

Instructions

1. Turn off the electricity to the old fixture at the breaker panel or fuse box. Leaving the light on is a quick way to verify that the power is off.

2. Remove the old fixture from the ceiling or wall by removing the mounting screws and disconnecting the wires in the junction box. Remove the mounting plate from the box by removing the two screws that retain it.

3. Verify that the new fixture has the same wiring requirements as the old light before starting. Mount the new mounting bracket onto the box and run the wires out around the bracket.

4. Connect the wires from the wall to the wires on the new fixture. The wires are color-coded, so match up the white, black and green wires and connect them with wire nuts.

5. Tuck the wires into the box and mount the new fixture to the mounting bracket using the hardware included with the new fixture. You can now turn the electricity back on and test the fixture.
