Attach Drapes To The Ceiling Over My Shower

Installing drapery on the ceiling of your bathroom can add texture to your bathroom.

Hanging drapery in your bathroom over the shower is an easy way to add texture and dimension to your bathroom, softening its appearance at the same time. Whether you're hanging a fabric curtain or a valance, you can install the drapery to the ceiling to create a seamless and cohesive look. While this project can be done alone, it is easier with an assistant, so ask a family member or friend to lend a hand.

Instructions

1. Determine the location where you would like the curtain rod to go. If you are hanging curtains to cover your shower, space them 2 to 3 inches from your shower curtain rod so that the drapery hangs freely and doesn't fall on or into the tub.

2. Mark your ceiling with a pencil to note the areas where the mounting brackets should be placed. You can snap a chalk like to be sure that each bracket is mounted in a straight line. Be sure to mark the areas spots where your screws will go.

3. Install drywall anchors in the areas where you want to place the screws. Drywall anchors screw into the ceiling, usually with a Phillips-head screw driver.

4. Attach the brackets with screws using a cordless screwdriver, screwing straight into the anchors.

5. Attach the curtain rods to the ceiling, following the directions that came with your curtain rod set. If you want to hang your drapery by threading it directly onto the rod, be sure to put the drapes onto the rod before installing the rods into the mounting brackets. Other ways of hanging drapery involve curtain mounting rings that are placed onto the rod and clip onto the curtain.

6. Arrange your drapery as you would like over your shower. If you want them to accent your shower, you may want to install tie-backs on each wall so you can pull the drapes back.
