Remove Paint Spots From A Popcorn Ceiling

Remove Paint Spots From a Popcorn Ceiling

Painting walls adjoining a textured popcorn ceiling can be difficult. The line where the wall and popcorn ceiling meet is difficult to cut into with a paint brush due to overhanging texture. Often a small amount of paint may get on the popcorn ceiling. Remove paint spots using a few paint tricks and leave your ceiling looking spotless.

Instructions

1. Use a wet rag or sponge to immediately blot the paint area, if paint is still wet. Do not wipe the area because this will smear the paint. Absorb as much of the paint as possible.

2. Apply paint removal products such as Goof Off or other stain removers made for paint removal. Saturate a paper towel with the product and blot the paint area.

3. Find the ceiling paint. Shake the can very well to ensure the paint is mixed well. Open the lid and use a stir stick to continue to mix the paint. Use a small artisan's brush or cotton swab to dab paint on small areas.

4. Use a small razor blade or flat-head screw driver and scrape off small pieces of the popcorn texture where the wall paint has caused a stain. Wear protective glasses if scraping a popcorn ceiling. Removing a small amount of the texture will not be noticed from the ground level. Only remove the texture if the ceiling is painted white.
