Troubleshoot A Casablanca Ceiling Fan

Troubleshoot a Casablanca Ceiling Fan

Ceiling fans are a great way of saving energy costs by keeping the air moving in your home. By keeping a ceiling fan running counter-clockwise in the summer, you can keep your home four degrees cooler. A Casablanca ceiling fan is not only a beautiful and quality fan, but it is backed by a 120-day in-home service should something happen. If you have had your fan for a while, you will want to troubleshoot your ceiling fan before taking it in for service.

Instructions

1. Check main circuit fuses and breakers if your fan will not start. If your fan will not operate at any speed, you may need to replace the pull-chain switch assembly or PCB assembly.

2. Wobbling or shaking can be corrected by tightening the screws holding the blade holders to the flywheel. Check the canopy pin, which should be set into the slot on the ball.

3. Check for loose light fixture screws, glass shade screws, or motor housing screws if your fan is noisy. Tighten if necessary. Check for loose light bulbs and tighten if necessary. Check the canopy and switch housing for any loose wire nuts.

4. Run your fan at high speed for a couple days to break it in if the fan is unable to run on low speed. If your fan will not reverse, you may have a defective reverse switch or capacitor and will need to replace the reverse switch assembly, PCB assembly or the motor unit.

5. Buzzing or vibration may be caused by light bulbs 75 watts and higher. Replace with lower wattage bulbs. Any kind of noise is rarely a motor problem.

6. Tighten the bracket and canopy if a cracking noise is heard.

7. Reposition the flywheel and tighten set screw if you hear any thumping or grinding.

8. Reposition or cover wire nuts or wires with tape within the switch housing if an intermittent rattle or clicking is heard. A rattling vibration could be caused by loose components of the fan or light kit or a loose glass globe. Check and tighten.

9. Tighten screws in blade holder assembly and/or install felt washers if any ticking is heard.
