Wire Hunter Ceiling Fans

When you install a ceiling fan of any type you must be sure the wiring is right. Putting the fan together can be a challenge but if you separate the fan assembly and wiring into two jobs, you will find that wiring a Hunter ceiling fan is really simple.

Instructions

1. Turn off power to in your breaker box. Test the switch to make sure it is off. Use your electrical tester if you're not sure.

2. Bring wires down after the installation of the hanging bracket (see Resources below). Your hanging bracket should be installed with the wires hanging through the middle of it for easy access.

3. Strip the ends about an inch.

4. Twist the ends of your wires together and join them with a plastic nut. Connect your wires in one of two ways: To control the light fixture separately, connect the black and white wire leading from the fan to the wall switch. For no light wall switch control, bring the black and white wire together from the fan to the ceiling black wire. This is for instances where there is no wire for a light fixture.

5. Take your ground wire and put it around your ground (green) screw. Tighten it in place.

6. Place wires through the canopy.
