Types Of Electric Fans

Electric fans work to cool and ventilate homes and businesses

Many people think that electric fans are just for climate control when, in actuality, they have many other uses. This is why there are so many different types, styles and sizes of electric fans. Electric fans can be as small as a desk fan for personal use, or large enough to cool and ventilate huge areas. Whether the job is cooling, exhaust or other purposes, an electric fan is one of the most cost-effective tools for getting the job done.

Floor Fans

Electric floor fans are movable fans that are designed to be positioned on the floor; they are convenient alternatives when window or wall fans are not practical. Electric floor fans enable a large amount of airflow and ventilation at a lower level. Having a cord, they must be positioned close to an electrical outlet so that the cord will reach when in operation. Electric floor fans come in various shapes and sizes and are used in many homes and businesses.

Ceiling Fans

The main purpose of the ceiling fan is to move air and enhance the effectiveness of an existing heating, ventilation and air conditioning system. The larger blades and more powerful motors that are available in ceiling fans effectively move air that helps keep the existing HVAC system from using as much energy. Most ceiling fans have reversible motors so that they move cool air from the floor up in warm weather and then in the winter move warm air from the ceiling to the floor. A ceiling fan is wired directly into the electrical wiring of the building where it is located so there is no need for extension cords or wall outlets. Ceiling fans come in a wide variety of types, sizes and styles.

Industrial Fans

Industrial electric fans are chiefly used in industrial or commercial settings. Industrial fans are handy in places where heat, humidity and stale air are a common occurrence. Industrial fans are very large and produce a great amount of airflow. Industrial fans are quiet with metal blades and have less vibration than other types of smaller fans that are used in residential applications. Industrial warehouses and distribution centers are just a couple of large facilities that benefit from using industrial fans because of the excessive temperatures that they have on a regular basis. Industrial fans can be blowers, wall fans, large floor or pedestal fans.
