Remove A Moen Handle Hub

Moen uses handle hubs instead of retaining screws to secure some faucet handles in place. You will not need to pry up a plastic cap in the middle of the handle, like you would with an older Moen faucet control handle. You also do not need to use a small Allen wrench to remove a retaining screw at the base of the handle, either. You cannot lose the handle hub since it stays attached to the faucet handle, which helps to avoid the problem you can run into of losing retaining screws down drains or elsewhere.

Instructions

1. Turn off the water in the house by turning the main shutoff valve to the Off position. Turn on another faucet, if possible at a lower level of the house, to make sure the water flow has stopped.

2. Hold one faucet handle steady with one hand. Use your other hand to turn the handle hub counterclockwise until it comes completely off its threads.

3. Repeat the process of unscrewing the hub off the second faucet handle. Pull the handles upward to remove the handles and hubs from the valve assembly.
