Party Favor Ideas For Christmas Cookie Exchanges

Help guests remember your Christmas cookie exchange with memorable party favors.

If you're hosting a Christmas cookie exchange for friends and family members, let your guests go home with a festive party favor which is also a batch of the tasty treats. Choose practical or decorative goodies that guests can display at home or use during future cookie baking sessions.

Recipe Box

Give each guest an eye-catching container to store the recipes from the cookie exchange. Customize unfinished wood recipe boxes with coats of acrylic paint and designs added with Christmas-themed foam stamps or decorate acrylic recipe boxes with paint pens and holiday-themed stickers. Before the party, let the guests know how many people will be attending the cookie exchange so they can write or print their cookie recipes on enough 3 by 5-inch index cards to ensure each guest gets one.

Decorative Containers

Provide a selection of decorative tins and containers that guests can use to hold the cookies that they receive in the exchange. Create a display of the practical party favors on a table and invite each guest to chose two or three to take home and keep for use during future cookie exchanges. Gather an assortment of containers such as tins printed with holiday designs, divided plastic containers to separate different types of cookies or plain gift boxes that you've covered with colorful foil paper.

Kitchen Tools

Offer guests favors that they can use when whipping up treats for the next cookie party. Consider tools such as cookie cutters in holiday shapes, a flour sifter, a cookie dough scoop or a manual cookie press to create shaped cookies. You can also find less expensive kitchen items such as mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons and cooling racks at dollar stores.

Beverages

Create party favors that the guests can enjoy when they're at home snacking on the cookies they received in the exchange. Fill small baskets with objects, such as a mug printed with Christmas designs, box of hot chocolate mix and a small bag of marshmallows. If your friends and family members prefer to drink tea, include a tea cup and saucer and an assortment of flavored tea bags instead.

Cookie Ingredients

Compile colorful party favor bags filled with most of the ingredients needed to create your Christmas cookie recipe. Provide guests with items such as sugar, nuts, food coloring, flour, baking soda and chocolate. Omit the perishable ingredients such as milk, butter and eggs, however, since the party favor bags may be sitting at room temperature for the duration of the party. In addition to providing the cookie recipe on a handy 3 by 5-inch index card, you can also write the instructions and ingredients list on a shipping tag tied to the bag handle with pretty ribbon.
