Install Speakers In A Suspended Ceiling

Many businesses which have a suspended ceiling may also contain speakers. These speakers allow music to be played throughout the building. Such systems can also be used to page or locate someone within the store. Most of these speakers are lightweight, which allows the ceiling tile to carry the weight of the new speaker. This makes installation very simple. For heavy speakers, additional supports must be added to carry the additional speaker weight.

Instructions

1. Locate where you want the speaker. Remove that ceiling tile by pushing it up, turning it on its side, and pulling it down. Use a hole saw to cut a hole large enough for the speaker.

2. Set the speaker into the hole, so it faces down into the space. Use a screwdriver and screws to secure the speaker to the ceiling tile, assuming the speaker wire is already run from the head unit to the ceilng tile location through the suspended ceiling.

3. Pull the speaker wire down through the open ceiling tile space. Connect the positive and negative spreaker wires to the positive and negative terminals of the ceiling tile-mounted speaker. Turn the tile sideways and push it back up into the ceiling. Put the speaker tile back in to its original position.
