Installation Instructions For A Hampton Bay 52inch Ceiling Fan

Hampton Bay has been a top ceiling fan manufacturer for years, and today specializes in the huge self-installation market. The fans come with design amenities that make them easy to install, including brackets to go on the electrical box, installation hooks to hang the fan housing from while you're wiring it, and clip-on fan blades. Hampton Bay's large 52-inch fans come in several styles.

Instructions

1. Cut power to the existing ceiling light at the home circuit box.

2. Remove the screws holding the existing fixture to the ceiling. Disconnect the wiring above it and remove the fixture, leaving the exposed electrical box with a white, black and bare copper (grounding) wire coming from it.

3. Find the mounting bracket that came with your Hampton Bay fan. Set the bracket against the electrical box, aligning the screw holes. Secure it with the provided screws.

4. Wrap the copper grounding wire from the electrical box around the green grounding screw on the bracket. Tighten the screw.

5. Put your Hampton Bay fan together on the floor, following the diagram included in the packaging. Don't install the blades, but hook up everything else, including the light kit.

6. Take the fan casing up the ladder and hang it from the hook on the mounting bracket. The casing should hang sideways off the hook, so the wires from the housing are near the wires from the box.

7. Hook up the white wire from the fan to the wire wire from the electrical box, twisting a wire nut over both wire ends.

8. Hold the end of the black wire from the electrical box next to the black (motor) and blue (light) wires from the housing. Twist a wire nut over the three wire ends.

9. Push the wire connections up into the electrical box.

10. Lift the fan housing off the hook and hold it up to the mounting bracket. Secure the housing to the bracket with the provided screws.

11. Turn on the electricity at the circuit box. Test the fan motor and lights using the remote control that came with the fine. (Note: The wall switch that controlled the original fixture will have to be turned on in order for the remote control to work).

12. Install the fan blades as instructed once you're sure the motor and lights are properly wired.
