Decorate Your Ceiling Like A Rainforest

Replicate this rainforest in your bedroom.

To add a touch of whimsy to your room, decorate the space with a rainforest-theme. A room filled with natural colors, lush foliage and comfortable linens invites relaxation and sets the stage for a restful night sleep. When decorating your rainforest-themed bedroom, include the ceiling in the transformation to give the room an authentic look. Decorative accents displayed on your ceiling will give you the feel of sleeping underneath a lush tropical canopy within the comfort of your own room.

Instructions

1. Paint the ceiling a shade of light blue to evoke the image of the sky. While sky blue is an obvious choice, it is a bright color that may be a bit too bold for the ceiling. Instead, opt for a shade of pale blue.

2. Attach decals of large leaves on the ceiling. Hang the decals so that their bases start at the edges of the ceiling and their fronts point toward the center of the ceiling. Overlap some of the leaves and leave gaps between others to create an authentic look of treetops. Leave the space in the center of the ceiling open so that the color blue is visible.

3. Paint small circles with glow-in-the-dark paint on the portions of the ceiling that are not covered with leaves. The circles will glow at night, creating the look of stars on the ceiling.

4. Twist lengths of green ribbon and suspend them across the ceiling, creating the look of vines. Hang the ribbons diagonally across the ceiling, from one corner to the next, as well as in straight lines across the ceiling. Don't hang too many ribbons, as doing so can make the effect obtrusive.
