Dropped ceilings present a challenge for hanging drapes.
Hanging drapes from the ceiling allow you to create the illusion of a higher ceiling, adding some drama to the space. If you want to enclose a small area in the middle of the room and can't place the rods for the drapes against a wall, hanging them from the ceiling could be a solution. A dropped ceiling has rectangular grids and pieces of placed on top of them. The ceiling tiles might have enough strength to support the weight of the drapes, so you need special hardware to hang drapes from a dropped ceiling.
Instructions
1. Remove the screw from a curtain track dropped ceiling clip. The clip is made up of two pieces of metal, each with a hook to attach to one side of the ceiling grid.
2. Push aside the ceiling tiles where you want to install the drapes.
3. Hook one half of the ceiling clip into the side of the ceiling grid and do the same with the other half. Align the holes in the two halves of the clip so they overlap.
4. Align the screw hole in a curtain track ceiling cartridge with the holes in the ceiling clip. The ceiling cartridge will hole the curtain track against the ceiling.
5. Insert the screw through the holes that are aligned and tighten it against the ceiling grid to keep the clip and the cartridge in place.
6. Continue attaching the ceiling clips and cartridges to the ceiling grids, following the path of the curtain track.
7. Insert curtain track carriers into the curtain track. The curtain track carriers have tiny wheels that allow them to slide back and forth on the track. They also have rings for holding the drapes.
8. Slide the track into the slots in the cartridges you previously installed in the ceiling.
9. Insert one end of a drapery hook into a hole in the drapes and continue until you attach all the hooks to the drapes.
10. Attach the other end of all the hooks to the track. Continue inserting the hooks until you finish hanging the drapes.
