Connect Ceiling Mount Speakers To A Mixing Board

Use the master Out jaqcks on a mixerr to hook up an amp and ceiling speakers.

Connecting ceiling mount speakers to a mixing board can add an extra audio dimension to a recording studio, auditorium or home theater. Since the mixer only processes the tonal qualities of the audio signal but does not provide power for the sound, an amplifier is needed to drive the speakers. Use the existing wires to connect the ceiling speakers to the amplifier. Standard audio cables with RCA-type plugs are needed to connect the amp to the mixer.

Instructions

1. Connect the wires from the ceiling mount speakers to a set of free terminals on the back of the amplifier. For example, connect a pair of ceiling speakers to a pair of left and right stereo jacks on the amplifier, matching the red wire to the positive terminal and the other wire to the negative terminal.

2. Plug the red and white audio cables into a set of audio input jacks on the amplifier. The red plug connects to the right audio channel and the white plug connects to the left.

3. Insert the plugs on the other end of the audio cables into the left and right Master Out jacks on the mixer, typically located along the back edge of the console.

4. Connect additional speaker pairs if desired to the amplifier's extra speaker terminals.

5. Use the mixer's balance controls to adjust the sound level between the speakers connected to the amplifier.
