Remove Water Stains On An Indoor Wood Ceiling

Remove Water Stains on an Indoor Wood Ceiling

Water stains on a wood ceiling may be an indication of a bigger problem than aesthetics and should be addressed as soon as possible. However, if the stain alone is the only issue, it can be removed fairly easily without having to spend the money to hire a professional.

Instructions

1. Purchase oxalic acid, also called wood bleach, from a local home improvement store.

2. Apply the wood bleach to the stain with a rubber sponge or nylon brush.

3. Allow the wood bleach to sit on the stain for five minutes.

4. Apply the second coat of wood bleach with a separate rubber sponge or nylon brush.

5. Sand the area, once the wood bleach is completely dry, with a piece of fine grit sandpaper to remove any residue.
