You can paint a ceiling medallion to complement the room.
Ceiling medallions are available in a wide assortment of colors, sizes, and materials. Traditional ceiling medallions are made of plaster, but many people prefer polyurethane medallions due to cost and ease of installation. Not only are polyurethane medallions much lighter than their traditional counterparts, but they are also easy to paint and customize for each specific room. Of course, polyurethane ceiling medallions are not appropriate in every setting. Homeowners restoring a historical building may find that the authenticity of a traditional plaster ceiling medallion is well worth the addition cost and labor.
Instructions
1. Measure the length and width of the room using a measuring tape. Determine the square footage of the room by multiplying the length and width of the room with a calculator.
2. Divide the square footage of the room by the number 7. The resulting number should roughly equal the diameter of the ceiling medallion you choose.
3. Measure the hole in the center of the ceiling medallion with the measuring tape. Verify the hole is smaller than the base of the light fixture that will be installed at the center of the ceiling medallion. Ideally the center hole should only be slightly smaller than the base of the lighting fixture.
