Mount A Clip For A Drop Ceiling Track

The clips in a drop ceiling are the cross tees used to support the panels when constructing the grid for a drop ceiling. The cross tees are used to support a 2-foot by 4-foot panel or 2-foot by 2-foot panels. This depends on the type of grid system you plan to install. To do this, you will need to have the runners for the track system installed before you can set the cross tees in place.

Instructions

1. Align the hook of the cross tee with the first slot in the runner. Insert the hook into the slot to attach the cross tee to the runner. Repeat this step every 2 feet along the length of the ceiling.

2. Place a 2-foot connector along the cross tees if your grid is 2-foot by 2-foot panels. Insert the end of the 2-foot connector into the slots in the cross tees. Repeat this step until you can center the grid.

3. Measure the distance from the runner to the perimeter molding with the tape measure. Measure a piece of cross tee and cut it to this length with the hacksaw. Repeat this step to cut additional pieces.

4. Insert the factory end or hook of the cross tee into the slot on the runner. Set the cut end of the cross tee on the top edge of the perimeter molding. Repeat this step to install all the cut pieces.
