Install A Mini Fan In Your Rc Car

Cooling your RC car's internal parts can be done easily and cheaply with an old computer CPU fan.

If your RC car is getting too hot, you may wish to put a home-made cooling fan inside it. This fan can be made cheaply with some readily available components. Keep in mind that this device will add weight to your RC car, possibly slowing it down, but cooler components have longer operational lives.

Instructions

1. Acquire the required parts to complete the task.

2. Cut the connector off of the CPU fan and discard it. Your CPU fan will have either two or three colored wires. Strip the red and white wires to 1 inch with your wire stripping tool so you have 1 inch of wire exposed. Twist these wires to the matching colors on the battery clip and cover the exposed wire with electrical tape.

3. Plug your 9 volt into the battery clip and the fan should start spinning at high speed. A CPU fan accepts voltages from 5 volts to 12 volts, so with 9 volts it should operate fine.

4. Install your fan and battery into the RC car. Use Velcro to attach the fan into the RC car's innards, pointing the fan at the components. Velcro your 9 volt battery to a secure location in the RC car frame where it will be easily accessible. You'll need to access the battery to turn the fan on and off with the battery clip connection.
