Use Standard Light Socket Bulbs In A Westinghouse Ceiling Fan Light Kit

Westinghouse Corporation is a well-known manufacturer of electrical devices and accessories. Products they produce include ceiling fans and the light kits that may be attached to them. As of 2010, the company produced 51 models and configurations of ceiling fan light kits. All are equipped with candelabra base (E12) lamp holders (sockets). However, if you have a supply of standard base incandescent bulbs, you can still install them in a fixture equipped with candelabra base sockets, provided you acquire one additional component.

Instructions

1. Purchase a quantity of candelabra to standard (medium) base socket enlargers/converters equal to the number of lamp holders in your ceiling fan light kit. They are inexpensive and you may purchase them at many hardware stores, electrical supply houses or Internet-based lighting retailers.

2. Insert a standard bulb into each purchased socket adapter by using a clockwise turning motion.

3. Place the stepladder beneath the ceiling fan. Mount the ladder while carrying your bulb-equipped socket adapters.

4. Insert a socket adapter into each candelabra socket on the light kit by using a clockwise turning motion.

5. Pull the pull-chain switch on the light kit. Your standard base lamps will illuminate.
