Use safe ladder practices when painting.
Applying
Instructions
1. Mask off the ceiling, the baseboards, around window frames and doorways. Masking tape prevents most paint runs, drips or leaks from going beneath its surface.
2. Lay the drop cloths around the perimeter of the area you are painting. Keep a damp sponge or cloth handy as you paint to wipe up drips or spills, even on the drop cloth, since your shoes can track wet paint across a floor.
3. Cut in with the paintbrush the areas that a roller cannot reach. When painting a wall, cut in about 3 inches above the baseboard or floor and ceiling. Cut in the corners as well as around door and window frames. Using a screwdriver, remove the faceplates from light switches and electrical outlets.
4. Pour enough paint into the paint tray so that you can evenly coat the roller to apply the paint to the wall. Saturate the roller and place it a few inches below the cut-in areas of the ceiling near a corner. Work in 3-by-3-foot sections. Roll in a "W" shape with the roller, starting with the top right side of the "W," and work toward the left. Continue rolling until you have completely covered the section. Blend the sections by rolling over them in a vertical movement.
5. Clean your roller and brushes when finished. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly per the packaging instructions.
6. Remove the masking tape after the paint dries and replace the faceplates from the electrical outlets and switches.
