Remove A Minka Aire Blade

The Minka Aire ceiling fan is one way to circulate the air inside your home. When the fan operates continually, the blades can build up with dust and dirt. Often the best way to clean the blades thoroughly is by removing them. It is best to remove the blade with the bracket first because the bracket mounting screws to the blade are on top of the blade. Removing the blade assembly allows you to bring the blade down to comfortably disassemble it from the bracket.

Instructions

1. Turn off the power to the Minka Aire ceiling fan. The circuit breaker is in your home electrical panel box. Attempt to turn on the fan with the pull switch to ensure that the power is off. Although you are not dealing with any of the electrical components, this will prevent someone from accidentally turning the fan on at a wall switch while you are working.

2. Position a stepladder under the ceiling fan so you can reach the blade brackets. Locate the screws that secure the blade brackets to the fan housing. Hold the fan blade with one hand, and remove the mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the fan blade away from the ceiling fan. Remove the remaining fan blades in the same manner.

3. Place the fan blade on a flat surface. With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws securing the blade bracket to the blade.
