Repair A Mini Tower Fan

Repairing a mini tower fan can be done most economically and timely by just replacing the device. The mini tower fan is attached to the back of the computer case with four screws. It plugs into the motherboard for its power source. The fan is designed to vent any hot air out of the case, keeping the parts cool so they can work effectively. You can replace the fan yourself with just a screwdriver.

Instructions

1. Shut down the mini tower computer and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Detach the cables from the back of the computer, making a note of how they were attached so you can reattach them quicker.

2. Remove the power cord from the power supply in the back of the computer. Unfasten the screws in the back of the computer that are securing the side panel with a screwdriver. Slide the panel off the computer case and set it out of the way.

3. Locate the cooling fan on the inside of the case near the back panel and follow the electrical wire connector to where it is plugged into the motherboard. Unplug the cooling fan electrical wire from the motherboard by hand. Unfasten the four screws that are securing the fan to the back of the case with a screwdriver.

4. Slide the fan out of the computer case and set it aside. Secure the new mini tower fan to the back of the case with screws and plug the electrical wire connector into the motherboard.

5. Place the panel back on the side of the computer and secure it with screws. Plug the power cord into the power supply in the back of the case and reattach the cables to the computer case.

6. Plug the power cord of the mini tower into the electrical outlet and power up the computer system.
