Decorate With Ceiling Fan Medallion

Ceiling fan medallions can be used for more than just ceiling fans.

Fan medallions are perfect for hiding those ceiling mishaps when your do-it-yourself husband decides to replace the light fixture with a ceiling fan. They come in a multitude of sizes, shapes and styles and are a snap to decorate. However, you also can use ceiling fan medallions to create an eclectic, colorful accent wall in your room.

Instructions

1. Use a pencil to rough out your design on the wall after you choose a pattern for your medallion wall. A twisty, snake-like pattern that works its way out from the center of the wall will provide visual proof of your free-spirited creativity. A tape measure is not necessary, as the design is supposed to be free and eclectic, though you can use one if you like.

2. Purchase medallions of varying sizes and shapes, depending on the pattern you chose. You can even incorporate square-, oval- and circle-shaped medallions into your design.

3. Pick out two or three complementary paint colors. For example, choose violets and reds for a sultry bedroom design or teal and bright orange for a child’s funky bedroom. Be sure the medallion colors also complement the existing wall color. Use an indoor, gloss or semi-gloss paint for an eye-catching pop of color.

4. Paint the medallions and allow them to dry.

5. Place several dabs of construction adhesive on the back of your first medallion and press it firmly onto your wall, holding it there for several seconds. You can start from the middle and work your way out, or start from the left or right. The choice is yours.

6. Apply adhesive and press the remaining medallions onto the wall, following the pattern on the wall.
