Wallpapering a ceiling can transform the look of a room.
Wallpapering a ceiling is an innovative form of home decor. It can mask ugly stains on a ceiling, brighten a room drastically and give the wallpaper along the walls a more finished look. On the other hand, you can use your ceiling to hang a type of wallpaper that's totally different from what you have on the walls, such as a mural or garlands. When hanging wallpaper on the ceiling, there are several things to keep in mind.
Measurements
Spend extra time ensuring that your measurements are exact. When you cut the paper, cut as carefully as you can to match those exact measurements as closely as possible. You don't want to have to trim the paper while you're up on the scaffold.
Scaffold
Examine your scaffold very carefully before you go up on it. It shouldn't shake or rattle and it should make you feel totally secure when you're standing on it. Ideally, you should use a scaffold that's big enough to reach both ends of the room.
Technique
Before you begin to attach the paper to the ceiling, align it carefully. Unroll the paper gently and smoothly, exerting a strong pressure with your hands to help the paper and ceiling form a strong bond and fight gravity. Move in the direction of the unrolling paper, scooting on your behind. Thus, you need a large enough scaffold that will allow you to shuffle from one end of the room to the other.
Adjust
Wallpapering a ceiling is a difficult task to do perfectly the first few times. Go slowly and take your time. More importantly, most wallpaper adhesive gives you a couple minutes of grace period before it starts to get thick and tacky, allowing you to adjust the wallpaper slightly to align it more properly.
